I simply love to design things and make them look great. In a world full of clutter, poor design and confusion, being able to create work that is balanced and pleasing to the eye is important to me. I specialize in company branding and logo design, but have designed everything from invitations, to business cards, to flyers and brochures, annual reports, websites, vehicle wraps, and the list goes on. I continue to challenge myself daily to become the best designer and person that I can be.
I started my career journey back in 2007 when I first decided to go to college a few years after high school. Originally, I was a journalism and public relations major and ended up switching gears over to graphic design after my first year in school. I graduated the top 10% of my class in 2012 from William Paterson University in Wayne, NJ. I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a graphic design concentration and a double minor in art history and journalism. After graduating, I moved back to Virginia and began work at a local sign, print and vehicle wrap shop. I have been the office manager and lead designer there ever since at beautiful Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia. I also freelance design on the side from home and have a wonderful array of clients that I do regular design and brand consultation work for. I am married to my lovely wife, Ally, and we have two beautiful sons, Silas and Sawyer.
I say it all the time, "Good art sends a different message to everyone...Good design sends the same message to all." I truly believe that quality graphic design is not only balanced and aesthetically pleasing, but it is also consistent and sends a clear message with purpose and intent. NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION! I believe that designing without a solid concept is pointless. Personally, I try to have fun while designing visual solutions, but am also very aware of the importance of deadlines, grit and hard work. Getting to know my clients and deciphering their goals and expectations is part of the fun of designing solutions to visual problems. Graphic design, especially freelance design, I feel is 80% dealing with people and 20% talent and skill.
